Your Voice Matters. Help Restore Justice for Survivors.

Oregon lawmakers need to hear directly from the people they represent—that means you. As Oregonians, we stand up for our neighbors, our communities.  Now is the time to speak up. The legislature is considering a bill that could strip away the ability of survivors to seek justice for the horrific damage done to their property and their families due to the negligence of a big utility company.

House Bill 3917 threatens to limit the rights of people who have already endured unimaginable loss. It’s critical that your state representative hears from you and understands the real-world impact of this legislation.

Here’s what you can do:

Please contact your state legislator (find your legislator here)  and urge them to stand up for wildfire survivors by  Restoring Justice for Survivors. Every email, call and personal story makes a difference.

Use the following script and talking points when you reach out:

My name is <YOUR NAME>. I am a constituent calling to urge <YOUR LEGISLATOR> to oppose House Bill 3917.
I am asking you to stand with the coalition of advocates, survivors, and community members who are working to protect people who have been harmed through no fault of their own. These are our neighbors, friends, and families—people who have lost everything and deserve a fair chance in court.

  • Putting limits on decisions of juries are counter to the will of the voters who have twice voted down such restrictions.

<If you have a personal story where you have been harmed by wildfires or know someone who has, please share it.>

Your story matters. Personal experiences are powerful and help legislators understand the real impact of their decisions. Even a short email or phone call can make a lasting impression.
